My name is Israel Akyea. I am twelve years old, my birthday is on the 21st of February. My parents are Evans Akyea and Grace Adukonu. My mother passed away when I was two years old. My father stays in Accra but I have not seen him in three years. I hail from Anfoe-Adame in the Volta region of Ghana. I am about average height.
I have been in the HardtHaven childrens home since the 5th of July 2007. I like to eat a lot but my favorite food is Fufu and groundnut soup. I also like apples, I like to say that Auntie Julieís name is auntie apple as she always gives us some.
I attend Gabi District assembly primary school. I am in class five. My favorite subjects are English language and mathematics and I enjoy being in school cause I like to learn.
In the future I would like to be a Doctor. This is because one of the volunteers that came this summer was a doctor and he told me that I should be one because I would be very good at it.
In the home I always ensure that all the doors are locked at night and keep the keys in the office. I ensure that all the kids who need medication have it at the right time, this is one of the reasons I know I would be a good doctor. I brush Emma and Gabrielís teeth and introduce the kids to volunteers sometimes.
I also like to go out with the volunteers to show them around town. I sometimes pretend to be a police man and impersonate Edem (the director of the home) when he is not around. My best friend is Kafui, because we always play ball together. I love to watch and play soccer. My favorite team is Kpando Hearts of Lions.
