Annie

We started sponsoring Annie in May 2008. Annie is a 14 year old girl who lives in Kpando. Edem first noticed her in her home by herself; her mother had gone traveling and left no food in the home for the girl, and no money to purchase any. Annie is a very shy and quite girl who is in class 5. She loves to draw. Annie is very underweight and undersized for her age and suffers from extreme sickle cell anemia. Sadly there is no medication available here to help treat or ameliorate Annieís pain. We support Annie through providing food, paying for her education as well as for her health care and medication. Because of the severity of her sickle cell Annie is often in the hospital and lives in constant pain, the live span for a person with sickle cell here is usually 16 to 18 years, so we are hoping to make Annie comfortable in the time she has.
