Oparebia Juliet

Oparebia Juliet
My name is Juliet. I am thirteen years old. I come from Nkunya Astere in the Volta region of Ghana. My parents are Opari Francis and Vusu Sterla. I am short and dark in complexion. My birthday is 11th of August .

I came to HardtHaven childrens home on the of 25th of June 2007. My favorite food is Fufu and light soup with chicken meat. I also like apples, oranges, bananas and egg with pepe.

I attend Gabi District assembly primary school. I am in class one. I am behind in school because it is hard for me to see very much. My favorite subject is English. I know my ABCís and numbers and I like to surprise volunteers because I speak English well but I donít say that I know it well.

When I grow up I want to be a nurse. This is because I want to be able to help people when they are sick.

In the home I sweep my plot every morning. I also help Elikplim with the shopping at market twice a week. I like going to market because sometimes my mother is there trading and I get to see her. I also like to help with baby Mary as she is very fussy and only allows her mother and me to hold her. She likes me because we come from the same area and I speak Nkunya, her language.

When I am in the home I like to practice my ABCís with the volunteers. I also like to help Tassi in the kitchen. I am learning how to ride the bike, Lebene has been helping me learn. My best friend here in the home is Jemima because we play ampe together (a traditional jumping and clapping game). I like to tease the volunteers by sneaking up behind them and covering their eyes, I only let go if they can guess it is me.
