As a citizen of Kpando community, I am writing to thank you for providing us some stuff. I will first introduce myself to you.
My name is Wisdom Adzowu. I come from Aveme-Danyigba but I stay at kpando. The name of my parents are Mr. and Mrs. Adzowu. I was born in Ashanti Region called Obuasi on 26th April, 1990. I am fair in complexion and my height is about 5.8 feet. I have a quite normal head and round face. I and my parents stayed at Obuasi for several years. Some years later, my father became very ill and my mother too became sick because of my fatherís sickness. He was ill for 6 months before his death. He died on 21th June, 2001. From that time, my mother became sad and she did not know how to take care of us. She began trading and continued selling for some years. From 2004, when I was in class six my mother contracted illnesses including head pain and foot worm. Because of this my and I also suffered. Because of our mother suffering, we called our grandmother to come and treat her. She came and started treating her. This continued for several months until on 11th December, 2004. The sickness stopped. My grandmother stayed there for one month before going to Aveme. On 28th March, 2007 my motherís sickness returned and we through treaded her condition but it didnít improve. At that time I was studying for my Basic Education Certificate Examination [BECE]. My life was divided; my exams and my motherís sickness into two. On 3rd April, 2007 my mother died. I was very worried about my education. I had to accept that my mother and father were both dead. When I completed Junior High School, I who will support my education? I wrote my exams with tears in my eyes and when my result slip came, I was too sad to go and collect it. I was in the house when one of my friends arrived. He told me that I got ten [10]. He asked why I thought that I did not deserve it; and I told him that I deserved eight [8] or seven [7]. He said that, he knew that I was in a difficult situation. When they were collecting pupil for the SSS, I didnít have anybody to take me to school. Some days later, my sister came and she told me that the church had said that they would send me to school, when I hear this I became happy and sad. I wait for news from the church for one term, but my grandmother came back and she told me that she would take me to school in village. I agreed and she brought me here (HardtHaven) to complete my education. I dislike cheating, gossiping about friend and stealing. I am yet getting to me Senior High School on 16th september,2008 the course Iím going to do is Accounting because I want to be an Accountant. Thank for providing us the computer and the toys. Thank you very much may God bless you. I know that this essay I have written will make you sad because of what has happened to I and parents.
*note from an administrator from the home; Wisdom got top marks, a 1 being the best in most all the subjects in the BECE, including Math and Sciences. One must have no higher than a 4 to be admitted into Senior Secondary School (SSS). He is going to Kpando Technical Institute and is studying banking and accounting. His cost of SSS is being funded by donations from previous volunteers from the US and UK, he will board at the school in the regional capital of Ho. Currently he has enough in his bank account to pay for one year of schooling. If interested donations can be made to his bank account for him to continue the other 3 years of schooling necessary to complete his high school career.
